What most surprises first-time visitors to Myrtle Beach is the sheer number of attractions in this town. Of course there's the beach, but there's also mini-golf, amusement rides, dinner theater, water parks, a boardwalk and much more. But before you can experience any of that, you need to find an affordable place to stay. Looking to snag a Myrtle Beach hotel under $100 per night? See our tips below.

Search for dates in spring or fall

Your chances of finding Myrtle Beach hotels under $100 per night greatly increase if you plan to take your trip before or after the beach town's summer high season. Try May, when the weather is warm enough but hordes of families aren't yet taking their summer vacations. September and October are also ideal weather-wise — while the rest of the country is cooling down, South Carolina still stays pleasantly warm.

Consider surrounding areas

We don't blame you for wanting to be as close as possible to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, the SkyWheel or the piers at 2nd and 14th avenues. But the Grand Strand's oceanfront stretch spans 60 miles, so consider looking at properties to the north or south of the main tourist drag. You'll find quieter areas with less crowded beaches, plus a surprising number of restaurants and attractions on and around Kings Highway. Coral Beach Resort on S Ocean Blvd has great rates year-round — even during the high season.

Stay close to (but not on) the beach

Oceanfront properties are almost always more expensive than those that don't offer direct access to the beach. If you don't mind a short walk or drive to the beachfront, you'll find a greater offering of hotels under $100.

Look for properties on side streets between Ocean Drive and Kings Highway and you'll be surprised by the range of options. If you plan to drive or rent a car, there will be even more properties to choose from north of King's Highway.

The La Quinta Inn and Suites is located north of the oceanfront between Myrtle Waves Water Park and Broadway at the Beach — it offers off-season rates of less than $100 per night.

Search and compare a variety of hotels

Don't just choose a hotel because it has a recognizable name. Search for your Myrtle Beach hotel with BeachDeals® and make use of filters, sorting and reviews to narrow your options down to the hotels that meet your criteria – big name or not. If you keep an open mind on dates and location, you will likely be able to find hotels that have excellent rates and satisfy your other must-haves.
