Dominical Beach

Costa Rica

A Cut Above

Dark-sand Dominical Beach is flanked by dramatic mountain peaks, and its deep blue water and strong waves make for excellent surfing, not to mention splendid scenery.

For those who love whale-watching, local tours can get you close to Humpback whales and other species that converge here from both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.

Prefer to unwind and relax? Consider getting a massage or doing some early-morning yoga right on the sand.

Waves and Waterfalls

Attractions and activities abound in this ecological smorgasbord made up of mangroves, marshes and estuaries.

Visitors enjoy zip-lining, caving, horseback riding, hiking, deep-sea fishing and, of course, scuba diving and snorkeling.

Love waterfalls? Head to nearby Nauyaca Waterfalls to witness the awe-inspiring cascades among plentiful greenery.

Chirripó National Park, another popular attraction boasting mountain ridges and rainforests, is about 30 miles away on Highway 243 toward San Isidro.

Head into Town

Any trip to Dominical Beach should include a visit to the charming town of Dominical, where you can find a variety of eclectic eateries serving seafood, pizza, sushi, tacos and other tasty cuisine that will make your trip even more memorable.

Grab a seat at a bar and chat up a local; you may be surprised at how quickly you can make friends.
