South Beach

Bright Lights, Beach City

South Beach practically needs no introduction. As the most famed beach in Miami Beach, Florida, this hip enclave has garnered a reputation as a spot for glamorous, worldly and fun-loving types to co-mingle.

The name alone brings to mind much-photographed images of the unique Art Deco architecture on Ocean Drive, home to bright lights, famous boutique hotels and restaurants, and all-night parties. But don’t overlook the actual beach—it’s a thing of real beauty too.

Party in the USA

With blue water and several miles of white-sand beachfront, South Beach offers visitors the warm water and relaxing views they desire, but also boasts plenty of activities further from shore.

Wander onto Ocean Drive and the surrounding streets to find excellent galleries, dining and shopping to fit all tastes.

Once the sun sets and the nightlife crowds convene, get ready to splurge—drinks in Miami are not cheap.

When to Go

There’s no bad time to visit South Beach, but several major events hosted here draw even more than the usual crowd.

Spring Break, of course, brings out the hardcore partiers, but the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, Art Basel and International Fashion Week draw a more serene crowd.

If you’re looking for great weather, lower rates and a less crowded beach, try South Beach in the later spring or early summer months.
