South Pointe Beach

Deluxe Beach Retreat

Occupying Miami Beach’s southernmost tip, South Pointe Beach is yet another sandy stretch in South Beach for vacationers to enjoy. It’s got the same white sand and striking blue water as Lummus Park to the north, and it’s also backed by high-rises, like most beaches on the barrier island.

But beach access is just one amenity at South Pointe Park, a green space offering breathtaking views not only of the ocean, but of the bay, nearby islands and even downtown Miami.

What to See and Do

Aside from amenities like lifeguards, restrooms and showers, the park offers picnic tables, water sports rentals, beach chair and umbrella rentals, a fishing pier and an off-leash dog park. There’s even a kids’ splash park, a playground and a snack bar.

As the sun sets, stroll along the waterfront path, lined with palm trees, or hasten your journey with the help of Citibike, Miami’s bike sharing outfit featuring numerous drop-off and pick-up points throughout Miami Beach. For an upscale meal, get a table at Smith and Wollensky, serving steaks and seafood in a chic space overlooking the channel.

At Your Fingertips

South Pointe Beach boasts easy access to attractions both in Miami Beach and in downtown Miami. When your day at the beach is done, simply walk a few blocks north to Ocean Drive, home to dozens of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Some famous hot spots are Nikki Beach Miami, Mango’s Tropical Café and the Clevelander.

To explore downtown Miami, simply hop on the MacArthur Causeway, which passes right by the Port of Miami, where massive maritime vessels can be seen arriving and departing.
