Ah, South Beach — year-round sunshine, all-night parties, miles of beaches, and of course, dozens of glitzy boutique hotels and modern resorts to choose from. And while you'll have plenty of options, choosing from only the very best hotels on South Beach — Miami Beach's most glamorous neighborhood — is of the utmost importance, whether you're coming for a weekend or spending several weeks.
Lucky for you, we've highlighted eight such hotels with easy beach access, luxe amenities and terrific reviews from travelers who have chosen these properties as their Miami Beach homes away from home.
Hotels on South Beach, Miami Beach - North End
1 Hotel South Beach
On South Beach's very northern end, close to Indian Creek, lies 1 Hotel South Beach, a 4-star guest rated upscale property. Its claim to fame? Having the biggest rooms in South Beach, averaging more than 700 square feet. Further proving that bigger is better, the 1 Hotel South Beach is home to the area's largest rooftop pool and lounge. And the only thing between you and the beach is the oceanfront wooden boardwalk running north and south.
Grand Beach Hotel Miami Beach
This sophisticated, oceanfront resort specializes in luxury and comfort, and offers some spectacular views from many of it's all-white suites. On top of the private beach and two beachfront pools, you'll get access to 7th floor adults only pool over looking the ocean. Plus, with its excellent Collins Ave location, guests are never far from Miami Beach's celebrated bars and restaurants.
Loews Miami Beach
Loews boasts one of the most recognizable façades of all of the hotels in South Beach — Miami Beach's oceanfront lineup of luxury resorts just wouldn't be the same without it. Rooms at the hotel offer every modern convenience — iPod docks, flat-screen TVs, complimentary WiFi and coffeemakers. Relax at the Day Spa or at the outdoor pool, or head to one of two on-site bars to splurge on the area's notoriously overpriced cocktails.
Royal Palm South Beach
Even those who haven't yet had the chance to stay at a South Beach hotel have heard of the Royal Palm South Beach Miami. This Art Deco gem is awash in white, decadent flair — but that's probably not why it has garnered a 4-star rating from the TripAdvisor community. Rather, travelers fancy the property's abstract interior, its excellent beach service, its impeccable rooms and the overall pampering they received.
Hotels on South Beach, Miami Beach - Ocean Drive
Clevelander South Beach Hotel
Walking down famous Ocean Drive, it's hard to miss the Clevelander, with its huge neon red sign and open-air futuristic bar. Day and night, rain or shine, there's a pool party happening here, with loud tunes and beer flowing to boot. Travelers give it 4 stars for its nonstop festive atmosphere, plus friendly service. You'll be a stone's throw from the beach, not to mention all the action happening on South Beach into the wee hours of the morning. Travel tip: Take advantage of the hotel's happy hour for discounted cocktails and bites.
Beacon Hotel
Featuring comfortable rooms decked out in bright colors, the Beacon Hotel welcomes travelers with an enviable location across from Lummus Beach Park, the most popular beachfront stretch on the barrier island. Though freebies are hard to come by in one of the nation's most high-end beach destinations, breakfast at the Beacon Hotel is complimentary, along with WiFi and beach towels.
The Pelican Hotel
With unique decor and a funky, artsy vibe, the Pelican Hotel has earned a 4.5-star rating from more than 1,000 visitors. Besides beach access, the hotel also offers free breakfast and WiFi. And if you find you can't entertain yourself at the on-site restaurant and bar, you can walk a few steps down to Mango's Tropical Cafe for stiff drinks and a high-energy Latin dancing show.
Note: Currently undergoing renovations, the Pelican will reopen in Summer 2021.
Hotel Breakwater South Beach
With a more subdued, upscale vibe than most of its Art Deco rivals on Ocean Drive, the Hotel Breakwater South Beach offers sleek accommodations and a few unexpected freebies — breakfast and WiFi. And while a number of hotels on South Beach, Miami Beach's northern stretches and the surrounding area don't have swimming pools, this one charms with its upper-level pool overlooking the on-site restaurant and action-packed Ocean Drive.
