Playa Paraiso

If you’re looking for paradise in Cuba, you won’t have to look too hard. Anchored not far from the Cuba’s main landmass is Cayo Largo del Sur, a coral cay turned resort island that belongs to the Archipiélago de los Canarreos.

This cay is home to white-sand Playa Paraiso, which time and again is picked as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and was most recently recognized with a TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice award.

What to See and Do

Playa Paraiso’s glistening waters are home to many species snorkelers and divers rarely get to see, such as starfish, stingrays and a various other forms of tropical marine life, and special excursions offer travelers the chance to swim with dolphins.

The beach is also frequented by turtles who use it as a nesting ground.

While it’s the ideal place to simply lie back, relax and maybe drink from a fresh coconut, Playa Paraiso also plays hosts to a variety of water sports. When hunger strikes, travelers can see what’s cooking at several nearby restaurants.

Getting Here

Nearby hotels offer a free “train” ride (really a shuttle service) to the beach, but you can also go by taxi or rental car.

If you have the chance, head to immaculate Playa Sirena, a short distance away, which has avoided development and offers a truly authentic Cuban beach experience.
