When searching for an all-inclusive Dominican Republic vacation package, you might think Punta Cana is your only choice. Not so! The DR is home to several tourist towns with all-inclusive resorts. On the north coast there's Puerto Plata, home to beautiful Cofresi Beach and Playa Dorada, plus the only aerial tramway in the Caribbean, offering stunning coastal views.
Along the country's south coast, heading east from Santo Domingo, you can find a handful of resorts to choose from in beach towns like Boca Chica, Juan Dolio and La Romana, many of which are more affordable than those in Punta Cana. If you decide to stay at a resort that isn't all-inclusive, you'll find even more savings.
Save your trip for the summer
Like most Caribbean destinations, the Dominican Republic has a high season and a low season, the timing of which has more to do with cold winter temperatures in North America and Europe than with any significant change in weather in the DR.
Hotel rates drop dramatically in the summer months, extending in some cases into the fall, which means that your total all-inclusive vacation package costs will come down starting in May.
