One of North America's best-loved low-cost airlines is making beach escapes easier and more affordable.
Southwest Airlines has announced that this summer it will add new nonstop service between major US cities and beach towns in Florida, California and the Caribbean.
New Nonstop Flights from Fort Lauderdale
Beginning June 4, 2017, the carrier plans to offer daily nonstop flights from Fort Lauderdale to the Cayman Islands, Montego Bay, Belize and Cancun.
A new nonstop route between Fort Lauderdale and Orlando is also in the works, as well as a twice-daily route between New York's LaGuardia and Tampa.

Midwesterners looking for an affordable Caribbean escape will also rejoice: Once Southwest secures governmental approval, it will begin shuffling passengers between Cincinnati and Grand Cayman. Dwellers of Washington D.C. and Philadelphia can plan a quick South Florida getaway with the airline's new daily nonstop routes to Fort Lauderdale. There's a lot to explore in this area — in addition to Fort Lauderdale's high-energy beach scene, visitors can check out nearby Hollywood Beach or make the 45-minute trek down to Miami Beach.

Fans of West Coast beaches can look forward to Southwest's new nonstop service between Boise or Salt Lake City and San Diego, which enjoys year-round sunny weather and an authentic Southern California vibe. Some of the town's most popular beaches include Mission Beach, with its scenic boardwalk, and Ocean Beach, known for its long pier jutting out into the Pacific Ocean.
