As if fans of Hawaii needed another excuse to start planning their next island getaway, United Airlines has announced that it will increase service to this beloved American beach destination.
Beginning in December of this year, United will offer 40 daily flights between 11 routes, including major cities in the West Coast, Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions.
In addition to its daily service from Denver to Honolulu, the airline will add daily routes between the Mile High City and Kona, Lihue and Maui. Currently, United is the only airline offering nonstop service between Chicago and Hawaii, and starting December 20, it will add year-round service between the Windy City and Maui for every day of the week but Tuesday and Wednesday.
Los Angeles and San Francisco, which currently provide the most frequent service to Hawaiian destinations from United, will both offer more daily departures to Kona, Lihue and Maui, in addition to the current five-times-daily service to Honolulu. Additionally, United will fly daily to Hilo from LAX.
"Our customers have asked for more ways to get to Hawaii, and by adding these flights we are thrilled to make Hawaii more accessible than ever for our customers traveling from the Midwest, Rocky Mountain and West Coast regions," said Jake Cefolia, United's vice president of Sales, in a press release.
And for those looking to rest and relax during the long flight over the Pacific Ocean, United has unveiled lie-flat seating for premium cabin customers, which includes custom-designed duvets and pillows from Saks Fifth Avenue. The amenity is available on overnight flights between Hawaii and Chicago, Denver, Houston, New York/Newark and Washington, D.C.
