Playa Samará

Costa Rica

Breezy Beach Vibe

Located on the easy-going Nicoya Peninsula is the peaceful fishing and farming village of Samará, home to Playa Samará. This beach caters to travelers who like being surrounded by lush vegetation, exotic wildlife, mountains and rivers, in addition to having a gorgeous natural beach at their disposal.

Activities, Activities, Activities

Though Samará is known for its chilled-out attitude, it also boasts an impressive list of activities for energy-laden explorers. Underwater caves bring in the expert divers, and the shallow water just off the bay is great for beginning snorkelers and surfers.

Take a kayak to pink-sand Chora Island to catch a glimpse of the exotic birds who make it their home, and then continue the kayak tour to Rio Ora or Rio Buenavista. Excursions can take you further out to view dolphins and sea turtles.

Another popular activity (though not one that requires much exertion) is to brush up on Spanish language skills, and the Samará Language School can help you do just that.

The Village

In the village, you’ll find a number of businesses offering everything from lodging and dining to souvenirs and rentals. The nightlife establishments here are no joke; it may be a quiet community, but when the party starts, everyone lets loose. No need to hold back—grab a drink and join fellow revelers in the celebrations. Vacation doesn’t get much better than this!
