Windsor Beach

Amazing Arizona Beach

Though Lake Havasu State Park is primarily a camping destination, those who make the trek here will be pleasantly surprised by the beach that fronts the lake, which boasts clean, white sand, mountain views and blue, balmy waters.

Arizona heats up considerably in the summer, so consider making this your getaway in the fall, spring and winter months.

Set up here for the day and share a meal at one of the shaded picnic tables, or barbecue using one of the park’s public grills. Boating is a favorite pastime here, along with kayaking, jet-skiing and other water sports.

After a morning spent in the water, dry off and explore the Mohave Sunset Trail, less than two miles long mile, which follows a path through the lowland desert and along the water. This trail is for walking only, so ditch the bike and go on foot. Leashed pets are allowed.

Another great way to view the area’s nature is to check out the Arroyo-Camino Interpretive Garden, which highlights local flora and fauna. Pay attention—you might see roadrunners, hummingbirds, turkey vultures and other kinds of birds on this path, as well as the occasional coyote or bobcat.

In the Area

Don’t feel like you have to stick around Windsor Beach for your whole stay. By all means, get out there and experience the other beaches, trails and parks in “Arizona’s Playground.” You can also cool off at the Lake Havasu City Aquatic Center, an indoor water park that can shield you from the hot Southwestern sun.

Plenty of shopping, dining and nightlife options await you in Lake Havasu City, though a picnic while the sun sets sounds pretty good, too.
